Our Guruji

Brahmasri Yerroju Srinivasa Rao garu

He founded the Samithi. He has been in this work since he was seventeen, and he has not stepped away from it since.

The founder

Nearly four decades in the same work

Guruji is fifty-five. He was seventeen when he began — an age at which most people are still deciding what to make of their lives — and what started then as a young man’s devotion to Sri Madvirat Pothuluri Veerabrahmendra Swamy has been his daily occupation ever since.

The Samithi exists because of him. He gathered the people, began the serving, and then had the society formally registered in 2020 so that the annadhanam would not depend on the health, the means or the lifetime of any one man — including his own.

How he serves

01

Jyotisham, used with care

Guruji reads a horoscope to find the cause of a difficulty, not to frighten anyone with it. What he gives back is a remedy a family can actually carry out, and the reassurance that the trouble has an end.

02

Problems that were actually solved

Over these years a great many people have come to him carrying something heavy — a household in trouble, a long illness, a matter that would not settle — and have gone home lighter. They come back, and they bring others.

03

From relief to devotion

His purpose is never to make anyone dependent on him. Those who come with a problem are turned towards God, and a good many of them have stayed on as true devotees of Swamy long after their own trouble had passed.

04

And then, food

The annadhanam is the same conviction in its plainest form. Whoever arrives at the Samithi — devotee, traveller, daily-wage worker — is fed first, and asked nothing.

Meeting Guruji

He is at the Samithi, most days

There is no fee for meeting him and none is accepted. If you wish to see him, please telephone before you travel to Nuzvid — on serving days and festival days he is with the vessels and the queue, and a call spares you a wasted journey.
